Botswana President Visits Curves in Gaborone
At 6:15 p.m. on Monday evening--the busiest time of the day for many Curves, including the one in Gaborone, Botswana--His Excellency President Lieutenant General Ian Khama caused a traffic jam on the circuit when he delighted members with a surprise visit. Coming straight from a football match and still dressed in his sweats, he sampled a few of the workout machines and inquired about the members' results.

Le CUSM fait de l’exercice
La recherche démontre l’existence d’un lien manifeste entre l’activité physique et un taux de survie accru au cancer, mais le simple fait de se rendre au centre sportif relève, pour plusieurs d’entre nous, du défi. Les effets secondaires des traitements que doivent subir les femmes qui luttent contre le cancer du sein constituent l’un des nombreux obstacles qu’elles doivent surmonter pour demeurer actives, sur le plan physique. La Clinique du sein de l’Institut des Cèdres du Centre universitaire de santé McGill (CUSM) a conclu un partenariat avec la société Curves, chef de file mondial dans le domaine de la condition physique des femmes, pour lutter contre ce problème. À compter de septembre, toutes les femmes inactives auxquelles on aura posé un diagnostic de cancer du sein et qui seront traitées, pour celui-ci, au CUSM, deviendront gratuitement membres de Curves.

Wall Street Journal: U.S. Franchises Like Curves Find Opportunity to Grow Abroad

As a sluggish economy continues to hobble business in the U.S., some franchise companies are still finding willing investors and growth opportunities overseas.

Curves International Inc. and sandwich maker Subway have reported double-digit expansion abroad, particularly in places such as Brazil and Central and Eastern Europe. Other hot markets for franchises include India and China, where new middle-class customers are emerging.

MSNBC Reports Egyptian Women Embrace Curves
CAIRO, Egypt — A young woman in a pink scoop neck shirt with her hair neatly tied back in a ponytail pumped each hydraulic exercise machine single-mindedly as she moved through the circuit, focused on her workout.
