Curves Harnesses Digital Technology to Further Mission of Strengthening Women

Curves launches digital version of its award-winning magazine, DIANE.

Curves, the global leader in women's health and fitness, is now also leading the way in harnessing digital technology in new ways.

With the January 2012 launch of the innovative digital version of its award-winning magazine, DIANE, Curves has now also become a leader in women's magazines.

A virtually unlimited number of people can now access DIANE's practical, motivational, and inspirational content for free. The magazine is published monthly and the latest issue can be accessed by clicking here.

The inspiration for the magazine, and its publisher, is Curves co-founder Diane Heavin. "With this new, cutting-edge technology, we were able to take the content of our quarterly, award-winning print publication and make it available to more women more often at no charge," said Heavin.

"It's a completely different, interactive way to enjoy the magazine--you don't read it, you experience it," she said. "This means more women than ever will have access to information that can really help them lose weight, get healthy and fight disease."

Claire Kowalchik, editorial director of DIANE since its launch in 2004, will hold the same title on the digital version. "I'm thrilled to be at the helm of this new venture," said Kowalchik.

"We have a talented staff of writers and editors who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for women with every issue," she said. "It's a joy to see Curves mission of strengthening women literally come to life in the digital pages of DIANE."

DIANE is published on the Zmags platform, which supports a rich environment for text and multimedia.

"One of the most accessed sections of the magazine is Eat," said Heavin, "which focuses on nutritious, delicious food. Everyone loves the recipes because you see these gorgeous color images and when you click on them, you get these great, ready-to-print recipe cards. It's so much more convenient than having torn, loose recipe pages from magazines cluttering your kitchen."

The magazine is filled with nuggets of practical information and tips to help women live a healthy, happy lifestyle. It also delves deeper into important women's health issues, and highlights inspirational success stories from women who have lost weight, reduced or deleted medications, gained strength and confidence, and in some cases, literally saved their own lives by embracing lifestyle changes.

"You just can't read this magazine and not feel better," said Kowalkchik. "You may even feel empowered...motivated...inspired. And who couldn't use a little more of that?"
