Think your local Curves is filled with ladies chatting each other up and trading cobbler recipes? Think again. Millions of women nationwide have lost millions of pounds and regained their health and energy at their neighborhood Curves. And Curves founder Diane Heavin thinks it’s about time they showed their strength to the world.
“On September 15, we’re going to show the world that Curves is not for sissies!” she said. “We know what our workout is capable of and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved. When millions of women participate in something together, we can really make a strong statement.”
It won’t be hard to spot Curves members on September 15; they’ll be wearing sage green T-shirts screened with the slogan, “CURVES: NOT FOR SISSIES” in camouflage ink. Another clue: look for toned muscles and crazy stunts. Members may be found performing amazing?and downright quirky?feats of strength while being photographed in the hopes of making it into a future issue of diane, The Curves Magazine. In fact, you may have already seen them towing a car, digging a ditch, or bench-pressing garbage cans.
“Curves members have such a tremendous, fun-loving spirit,” said Heavin. “So while we want National Not for Sissies Day to be taken seriously, we also want to make it fun. It wouldn’t be a Curves event without a little silliness.”
Curves Not for Sissies T-shirts are available for purchase at participating Curves locations, and will be worn with pride nationwide on September 15. For more information, find your local Curves at
